Police Officer

If you are interested in a career in law enforcement and are willing to accept the challenges of policing in one of Morris County's fastest growing towns please provide your name and email address to caustenberg@mopd.org. We are a 46-officer department that patrols 32 square miles of residential and business community, home to Budd Lake, the International Trade Center and traversed by highways 46/206 and I-80. The department conducts testing as needed and you will be notified of the next application process.

Salary/Benefits:
The Mount Olive Police Department offers the following salary and benefits (2008):
  • Starting Salary - $39,478
  • Top Patrol Salary (after 6 years) - $81,916
  • Longevity - 4-6% (based on years of service)
  • Medical and Dental Insurance
  • Vacation - 10-30 days (based on years of service)
  • Holidays - 14 days/year
  • Sick Leave - 14 days/year (includes 6 personal days)
  • Educational Incentive - $1,375/year for degrees in Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Law or Police and Public Administration

    Requirements:
  • Must be a citizen of the United States and NJ resident
  • Must possess a valid NJ drivers license
  • Must possess a high school diploma, or equivalency
  • Must be of good moral character
  • Must be at least eighteen years old
  • Must not have been convicted of a crime
  • Must have an Associates Degree or have attained 60 college credits

    NOTE: Township Ordinance requires all perspective Police Officer Candidates
    to have met the above requirements at the time of a conditional job offer.

    Testing Process:
    The testing process is a comprehensive series of tests and includes:
  • Written Examination-administered by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police
  • Physical Agility Assessment
  • Oral Interviews
  • Chief of Police Interview
  • Psychological Evaluation
  • Background Investigation
  • Medical Examination
