Officer Joseph Abrusci started his career in Mount Olive as a special officer in December 1981 until February 1983 when he was hired as a full-time officer. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division and assists the Traffic Bureau with serious and fatal accident investigations. Abrusci is a certified Accident Reconstructionist, Standardized Field Sobriety/Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Instructor and a Drug Recognition Evaluator. He is also a graduate of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Course. Officer Abrusci has received numerous departmental awards including two Knights of Columbus Shield Awards, a Medal of Honor, Exceptional Duty Award, two Meritorious Service Awards, two Live Saving Awards, six Honorable Service Awards, a Grand Cordon, an Educational Achievement Award and a Program Development Award. He holds an A.S. from County College of Morris.
