Lieutenant Spitzer began his career with the department in August of 1994 and was assigned to the Patrol Division until he was transferred to the Communications Division in September of 2006. He was promoted to Sergeant in November 2001 and to Lieutenant in September 2011. During his career he has received numerous departmental awards including a Life Saving award, Educational Achievement award and two Honorable Service awards. In 1999 Lt. Spitzer received the Knights of Columbus Shield Award for his investigation that led to an arrest for counterfeiting. In addition he received the Program Development award for designing the departments current patch in 1998. Lt. Spitzer is a former Field Training Officer and currently serves as a Physical Training and PR-24 baton instructor. He has also received training in Accident Reconstruction. Lt. Spitzer holds a B.A. degree from University College, Rutgers University.
