Officer Kalafut was hired on July 23, 1998 and is a graduate of the Morris County Police Academy's 52nd Basic Class. Kalafut graduated from the College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) with a B.S. in Law and Justice. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. Kalafut's departmental awards include the Knights of Columbus Shield Award, a Life Saving Award, a Grand Cordon, two Honorable Service Awards, a Physical Fitness Award and an Educational Achievement award.

Kalafut is a certified Field Training Officer and Physical Training Instructor. He is a member of the department's Honor Guard and a former President and Vice President of Mount Olive Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #122. Kalafut, along with Officers Mase and Cordileone, runs an Annual Holiday Gift Drive in memory of the late Chief Charlie Brown that benefits township residents, Cerebral Palsy of NJ and The Children's Home of Easton.
