Upon joining the department in January 1999, Cpl. Gumann was assigned to the Patrol Division until he was transferred to the Support Services Divsion in 2014. Some of his training includes Interview and Interrogation, Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus and High Risk Motor Vehicle Stops. Gumann serves as a department bicycle officer and is a member of the department's Honor Guard. He is a department Firearms Instructor, Assault Rifle Instructor, Radar Instructor, Force on Force Instructor and MP5 (subgun) Instructor. He is a current member of the Morris County Rapid Deployment Team (RDT), which responds to acts of terrorism and technological/natural disasters that arise in the state. Cpl. Gumann's departmental awards include the 2002 Knights of Columbus Shield Award, a Meritorious Service Award, three Life Saving Awards, an Honorable Service Award, a Grand Cordon, a Physical Fitness Award and an Educational Achievement Award. He is a graduate of William Paterson University and holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice.
